Ástkær eiginmaður minn og faðir okkar, Gary Steven Pettengell, lést á Landsspítalanum þann 4.október. 

My dear husband, Gary Steven Pettengell passed away on the 4th of October.



Gary Steven Pettengell verður jarðsunginn frá Selfosskirkju þann 20.október kl.14.

The funeral service for Gary will take place at Selfoss Church, Iceland, on October 20th.

Ég sendi mínar innilegustu samúðarkveðjur til ykkar elsku frábæru og yndislegu mæðgur. Værst ber að minnast elsku Gary ykkar, en þa er best að hugga sig við alla þær góðu minningar sem þið höfðuð um hann. Það er alltaf hægt að segja að Anita hafi fengið sviðin frá honum og hefur mér alltaf fundist hún vera svo lík pabba sínum. Alltaf er hægt að minnast hann í gegnum hana.
Gary horfir niður til ykkar og hann örugglega brosir til ykkar og hann getur verið stoltur af stelpunum sínum ♥️  
Megi guðs englar vaka yfir ykkur elsku fjölskylda á þessum myrku og erfiðu tímum. Það er alltaf sárt að missa einhvern, en þið vitið að ég er alltaf hérna til staðar fyrir ykkur. Ef ykkur vantar eitthvað þá er ég alltaf hér, Anita er auðvitað mín allra uppáhalds og besta vinkona og verð alltaf til staðar fyrir hana og auðvitað ykkur ! 🫶🏼♥️

From the other Gary in Selfoss to you Gary

It's very sad to have to say this final goodbye.

We got to know each other working at the milk factory here in Selfoss you sending the packed milk products through to us in the cooler and delivery rooms.Both with english as our native language we were quick to get to know each other and with the close ties between England and New Zealand along with a shared interest in english football it was always enjoyable running into you pretty much daily and chatting whenever we could.

You were always friendly and easy to talk too and that never changed .

Our paths sadly did not cross so often after I left a few years later but when we did run into each other it was always great to chat and catchup.

Knowing the health battles you had gone through and were going through these last years I always wished things could soon turn around for you so it was heartbreaking our last meeting just a few weeks back when you told me how serious things were.It was hard to process this and how life can be so unfair to such a good man. A man with such a beautiful family that he loved and cared so much about,a family with mutual love that no one would ever want to part. Your pain within though not obvious on the outside one felt with sharing words this short time. Too short a time that it's hard to accept this was to be our last time. You still seemed strong though you must have been so broken inside. A testament to the man you are, strong and determined to care for your family no matter what.You will be sorely missed.

Our hearts, love and deepest sympathy go out to you Þórdís,Anita and Thelma. Also to all family in England ,Iceland or wherever you may be,so sorry for your huge loss.May god bless you all and help you navigate these difficult and so painfull times.
